About HeaterLeak

HeaterLeak is for one stressful moment: you've found water around your water heater and you need to know, fast, whether it's a mop-it-up problem or a call-a-plumber problem — and how to make it safe while you figure that out.

Why we built it

When a heater leaks, most people find either a forum thread that doesn't match their situation or a vague article that ends in "call a pro." We wanted something that actually answers the question: where is it leaking, is it repairable, is it worth repairing given the unit's age, roughly what it costs, and how to shut it off without getting hurt — all in one screen, for free.

How the triage works

The tool runs on fixed, published logic — not an AI chatbot guessing. Your leak location, the heater's age, and its type map to a cause and a repair-or-replace verdict through the same rules a careful plumber would use: a corroded tank is always a replacement, a relief-valve leak always comes with the "never plug it" warning, and an old unit is nudged toward replacement rather than a repair on a heater about to fail anyway. Because the logic is fixed and tested, the answer is consistent and auditable.

What we won't do

We won't invent a precise price to look authoritative — every cost is an honest range with the caveat that it varies by region and unit. We won't pretend the tool can see your heater; when something is beyond a homeowner, it says so and points you to a professional. And safety guidance always errs toward the cautious action. The recommendation is never influenced by advertising.

Who's behind it

HeaterLeak is built and maintained by Worklifted Technologies. Found a cost band that looks wrong for your area, or a leak cause we've missed? Tell us — on a page people read mid-emergency, a correction is worth more than a compliment. The contact page comes straight to us.
